Enjoy Assam Black Tea with These 3 Interesting and Easy To Make Recipes

India is known for Assam Tea across the world. Assam tea gardens produce some of the highest quality teas that are coveted the world over. While there is nothing like a freshly brewed hot cup of tea, the strong flavor profile of Assam Black Tea can be enjoyed in some other ways as well. 

Here are a few easy recipes to help get you started! 

1. Assam Tea Ice Cream

This cardamom scented Assam Tea Ice cream recipe is so easy and flavorful that you will find yourself making yourself a batch even before your previous one runs out. Here’s how you can proceed: 
  • Brew 4 tablespoons of whole leaf second flush Assam Black Tea in 2 cups of water and 4 cups of milk, till the mixture reduces to half. 
  • Add ½ cup of sugar to the mixture while still hot and stir till the sugar melts in. 
  • Let the mixture cool and strain it into a blender. Add 2 teaspoons of cardamom powder and blend the mixture to reach an even consistency.
  • Set it in an ice cream tray or any plastic box and freeze for at least 6-8 hours before serving.
For a layer of added indulgence, add a few strands of saffron atop a scoop and then serve! 

2. Assam Tea Virgin Sangria 

Be an excellent host and serve something new instead of the boring old soft drink or lemonade to your guests. This easy to make and pretty to serve Assam Black Tea sangria can be made well-in-advance. Know how:
  • Brew a tablespoon of Assam tea leaves in two glasses of water for 5-7 minutes. Let the mixture cool and then strain it into a jug. 
  • Add 3-4 teaspoons of honey, one bowl of finely chopped fruits of your choice - apple, pears, oranges, sweet limes and even pomegranate are recommended. 
  • Tear in and a few basil leaves for a fresh aroma or swap it out with mint leaves if you have them handy. 
  • To serve, take a glass with 2-3 cubes of ice, and half fill it with this mixture. Top the whole thing off with club soda and serve. 
3. Smoky Assam Tea Paneer Tikkas 

We’ve all enjoyed paneer tikkas in their many avatars. They are a crowd-pleaser and an instant hit with people from all age groups. However, recipes can get a little boring. So, to add a modern twist, try these smoky Assam Black Tea Paneer Tikkas. 
  • Take a non-stick pan or even a tawa and heat it up till nice and scorching. Add about 2 tablespoons of whole leaf Assam Tea to it and dry roast it on a low flame. Do this for about 3-5 minutes till a roasted aroma comes out.
  • Turn off the heat and transfer the roasted leaves to a plate to cool. 
  • Take 500 grams paneer and cut them into 1.5-inch cubes. Marinate the pieces in two teaspoons of hung yogurt, ½ teaspoon each peri powder, black pepper, salt and cumin powder for 30 minutes. 
  • Take each piece of paneer and roll it in the roasted tea leaves till some leaves stick to the paneer cubes. 
  • Grill the tikkas in a griller or on a non-stick pan with very little oil on all sides till it catches some color and has some charred corners. 
  • Serve it piping hot with a coleslaw salad and give the staple green chutney a miss.
